Conventional Cotton
Conventional cotton is notorious for being one of the world’s most chemical intense crops. In fact, it ranks as the third largest user of pesticides in the United States* , using pesticides that include organophosphates, pyrethroids, and neonicotinoids, which have been associated with harmful impacts on our health and environment.
Baby’s skin
Cotton is a natural fiber that is extremely soft, breathable and wicks moisture away from skin, making it the perfect choice for dressing babies. However, with a highly absorptive skin, immature drug metabolism and drug detoxification system, infants are susceptible to percutaneous toxicity. It is therefore important to ensure that anything that touches your baby's skin is free of chemicals.
Glyphosate - the active ingredient in the popular herbicide “Roundup®, and categorized as a “probable carcinogen” by the World Health Organization * made up more than 1/3 of all pesticide use on cotton in 2019.
The good news is that all these chemicals are banned from use in the cultivation and processing of organic cotton if the product is certified to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).
Lovingly nurtured on healthy farms, the cotton bolls are carefully harvested to strict GOTS standards, hygienically spun into yarn, brilliantly colored with low-impact safe dyes, expertly woven into fabrics, and affectionately embellished and sewn into heirloom quality pieces.
But we don’t stop there.
To take it one step further, we get all our products clear an extremely stringent CPSIA* testing regimen. This ensures there are no hazardous materials still lurking in any of our finished products.

And finally, the embroidery thread we use for personalization/ monogramming is made from an innovative fiber of 100% botanic origin.
